El IES Vega de Toranzo se encuentra en la localidad de Alceda, Cantabria. Sus alumnos son de diferentes pueblos de alrededor. No es un centro muy grande, tienen alumnos de 12 a 16 años. El hecho de que no sea una colegio grande, permite a los profesores dar una educación personalizada a los estudiantes.

Pilar Sabariego se licenció en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Sevilla, posteriormente, se doctoró en Matemáticas por la Universidad de Cantabria. Actualmente trabaja como profesora en el IES Vega de Toranzo de Cantabria y colabora en la formación de futuros profesores y en el programa ESTALMAT para alumnos con altas capacidades. Ha ganado varios premios participando con sus alumnos en concursos regionales y nacionales. Ver por ejemplo: link.

Vega de Toranzo Secondary School is located in a town in Cantabria. Pupils are from different small villages next to it. It is not a big school; it has students from 12 to 16 years old. The fact that it is not a big school let teachers to give a personalized education to the students.

Pilar Sabariego received her degree in Mathematics from the University of Seville. Later, she earned a Ph. D. from the University of Cantabria. Currently, she works as a Secondary teacher at the Vega de Toranzo school and she collaborates in the training of  future teachers and in the ESTALMAT program for students with high abilities. She has won several awards participating with his students in regional and national competitions.
